Welcome to the Vocal Development Framework

The Vocal Development Framework is a theoretical and pedagogical model that conceptualizes singing as a multidimensional developmental process. It integrates five interrelated domains of vocal competence – body, sound, articulation, style, and performance – and situates them within musical activities (such as practising, improvising, and singing together) and broader cultural contexts. The framework provides a structured way to describe, analyse, and support vocal learning, linking individual skill development with social and cultural dimensions of singing practice.
